We all carry sensitive data in our USB drives. I will show you a simple trick to lock your USB drive without using any software. Without password protecting our USB drive creates a huge space to theft our personal data by someone. If you use password protection to your USB, you can reduce the data theft. If you're using Windows you can password protect your pen drive without using any software. So let's see how to set a password protect on your USB without using any software.
Step 1: Insert your USB drive to computer
Step 2: Click on Start , In "Search programs and files" box, type Bitlocker Drive Encryption or In Windows 8 Press “Windows key+ Q” and type Bitlocker Drive Encryption.
Step 2: Click on Start , In "Search programs and files" box, type Bitlocker Drive Encryption or In Windows 8 Press “Windows key+ Q” and type Bitlocker Drive Encryption.
Step 3: Now launch Bitlocker Drive Encryption application. Then look for your USB drive and click on Turn on Bitlocker
Step 4: Windows will ask you to set a password. Now set your password and Click on Next
Step 5: If you want save the password in a safe place then you have 3 options
1. Save to your Microsoft account
2. Save to a file
3. Print the recovery key
Choose your preferable option and continue
Step 6:Choose “encrypt using disk spaces only” Now click on Next. After that you will get a Bitlocker Drive Encryption application confirmation screen. Click on Start Encrypting.
That's all !!! :) You now successful password protected your USB drive. From right now if someone tries to access your USB, Windows will ask him/her to enter the current password.
